A 53-year-old man with a history of violent sex crimes against children has been arrested in the 1981 killing of a 6-year-old Anaheim Hills boy, police announced Saturday.
Investigators say DNA evidence links Kenneth Rasmuson to the slaying of Jeffrey Vargo, whose partially-clothed body was found at a Pomona construction site a day after he went missing. The little boy had been strangled.
Rasmuson, a registered sex offender, was first convicted shortly after Vargo’s death of sodomizing an orally copulating an 11-year-old Santa Barbara boy.
Six years later, he was sentenced to prison after committing “an atrocious sexual act upon a child” and dumping the naked 3-year-old boy in a deserted area near an L.A. County highway.
